🔒 Media stays on this device. Long or high-resolution files can take time. (Live transcription tells you first if your browser can only do it online.)
Video to GIF
Extract audio from video
The browser records the file's audio track into a WebM audio file. Keep this tab open until playback finishes.
Transcribe a file into text and subtitles
🔒 Speech recognition (OpenAI's Whisper) runs on this device, so the recording is never uploaded. The model downloads once and your browser keeps it for next time.
SRT and VTT subtitle files work in YouTube, VLC, video editors and most players. Corrections you make in the transcript are used when the lines still match the timed segments.
Live speech transcription
This uses your browser's speech recognition. Play a recording nearby or speak into the microphone. Availability and language support depend on the browser.
When your browser can recognise speech on this device, your voice stays here. Otherwise it is sent to the browser maker's speech service (Google in Chrome), and you are asked first.
🔒 Runs locally with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly; your video never leaves this tab. The engine (about 31 MB) downloads once on first use. Large videos can be slow on phones.
Removes GPS location, camera and phone model, recording date and other tags without re-encoding, so quality is unchanged and it is fast. Trimming still works; the other settings are not used.
GIFs are capped at 20 seconds and 640 px wide so they stay a sensible size.
