About Palette Forge

Palette Forge builds a 5-colour palette from a starting colour, a harmony rule or a photo, with hex codes and a WCAG contrast check. It also makes CSS gradients and box shadows from your colours.

How to use Palette Forge

  1. Choose a starting color and a harmony, or take the colors from a photo.
  2. Press “Generate palette”.
  3. Check contrast, copy the colors, and turn them into a gradient or a shadow.

Can I get a palette from a photo?

Yes. Choose or drop an image and Palette Forge finds its five main colors. The image is read in your browser and never uploaded.

Can I make CSS gradients and shadows?

Yes. The gradient generator builds linear, radial and conic gradients from your palette, and the box shadow generator makes soft, layered or inset shadows. Copy the CSS, or download the gradient as a PNG.

Does it check accessibility?

Yes. It checks text contrast against WCAG, so you can pick colours that are easy to read.

Is Palette Forge free?

Yes. It is free to use, with no account, no watermark and no paywall.

Are my files uploaded?

No. It runs entirely in your browser, so your files and text stay on your device.
